This super summer smoothie recipe is filling enough to be an easy, take it with you breakfast or lunch all on its own. It’s also a deceptively delicious drink—kids will never know they are drinking flaxseed and cod liver oil!
Ingredients:
½ cup plain, unsweetened kefir
2 T honey
¼ not from concentrate orange juice
1 T strawberry flavored cod liver oil (I use Nordic Naturals Children’s DHA)
1 T ground flaxseed
2 bananas, peeled
3 cups frozen strawberries
3 peaches, halved and pitted
¾ cup plain, Greek strained yogurt
Method:
Place all ingredients in order listed in high powered blender that can grind right through frozen fruit and fruit skin. I use my very favorite kitchen tool—the Vita-Mix. Blend on low for about 20 seconds and then switch to high power until ingredients are fully blended and smooth. This recipe makes 4 large servings—so just use more or less of the ingredients to make as much as you need.
